The bellman rang our suite to tell us the ’64 Jaguar E-type rental car was waiting for us.  It’s our wine country honeymoon and we are about to embark on a “bubbles tour”.  We are stopping at every Napa winery that makes sparkling wine. Something our concierge put together for us.

When we were doing our Napa-Sonoma honeymoon planning, we told Melanie at Booker & Butler that we loved Champagne. So she set us up. First stop: Schramsberg. The caves there date back to the mid 1800’s. Dug by hand by Chinese laborers! We will definitely be toasting all their hard work.

After we motor down Valley a bit, we’ll stop at Mumm, then Domaine Chandon, then Domaine Carneros. Would it be over-the-top if we had a bite of caviar at each stop? Might have to stop at Thomas Keller’s new caviar and champagne bar, Regis Ova.

Once we get back to the resort, the plan is to recover from our outing with a dip in the outdoor mineral pools, some cozy time by the fireplace in our room, and dinner at the Michelin-rated restaurant here at the hotel. At sunrise tomorrow we have a private hot air balloon tour, a picnic in the vineyards and winery tour that includes a horse drawn buggy. I don’t want our honeymoon to be over but maybe we can make Napa and Sonoma our anniversary thing.
