Botanical Garden Tour

We took a garden tour at the Quarryhill Botanical gardens. It houses the largest collection of wild-collected Asian plants in the world. There are 25 heavenly acres of mature, flowering Asian trees and shrubs.

I have never in my life seen such a collection of magnolias, dogwoods, maples, birches, roses, lilies, and rhododendrons all in one place.

Thank goodness, we take a break to take it all in. We enjoy a picnic surrounded by ponds, waterfalls, and vistas of the Sonoma Valley.

Back in Napa my husband was fully enthralled in the carriage house showcasing the vintage car collection at Far Niente. Meanwhile, I couldn’t get enough of their lush amazing gardens. The red and pink azaleas were bursting with such color it was almost blinding.

I knew I would love this winery before even tasting the wine. The long winding road up to the tasting plant-comp image for booker and butlerroom was lined with ginko trees. The acacia and olive trees are just a few more of the varieties I explored that day.

A full time staff of gardeners work there who don’t even touch the vineyards. The owners’ background in the nursery business is evident, and I wish there was a tour just about all of the plants.
